About Us

John Heard Co. is a general contracting firm based in Cordova, TN. Begun in 1985. Licensed in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi, we specialize in residential construction ranging from custom homes, additions, remodels and now limited light commercial building in rural Mississippi.

John McDowell Heard is a sixth generation Memphian who grew up in the shadow of builders and developers associated with Joyner, Heard, and Jones, a Realty company founded in the early Twentieth Century by his grandfather Robert G. Heard Sr. and later, his father, Robert G. Heard Jr.

An avid outdoorsman,steeped in classic southern architecture, the visual arts, and landscape architecture, John is an Ole Miss graduate, class of 1978. He has been married to Adella for 41 years. They share three adult daughters and four grandchildren.

John receives great satisfaction helping his clients realize their architectural visions, whether placing a custom home on a property in such a manner so as to make it look like it always belonged there or seamlessly adding on to a house so as to make it difficult to tell where the original construction ended and the new construction began.
